THE Flying Eagles secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ismailia, Egypt with a 2-0 win over Mozambique tonight.
It is Nigeria’s second straight victory following the win over hosts Egypt on Wednesday, as they overcame their opening defeat to Senegal.
Ladan Bosso’s side struck twice through Samson Lawal and Ibrahim Muhammad to send them through to the last eight.
Lawal opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Muhammad doubled the advantage eight minutes later.
The Flying Eagles join Senegal in the last eight, with the Cubs of Teranga sailing through with a 100 percent record.
Senegal earned their third straight victory also tonight, trouncing the hosts 4-0 in Cairo.
Papa Demba Diouf struck the tournament’s first hat-trick to secure the big win for the West Africans.
Senegal won Group A with nine points, three more than second-placed Nigeria, while Egypt and Mozambique finished with one point each.
