THE Flamingos of Nigeria will play Liberia in the final qualifying round for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Liberia set up the tie after shocking Senegal in their third qualifying round match-up.

Senegal had won the first leg 3-1 and were confident of advancing but the Liberians fought back with a 2-0 win in Monrovia to win on the away goals rule after the tie ended 3-3 on aggregate.

The Young Maidens of Senegal were the favourites going into the second leg in the Liberian capital, but Louise Brown got the hosts in front in added time of the first half.

Dalphine Glao then netted the crucial second goal nine minutes into the second half to earn Liberia the big win.

Liberia will host Nigeria in the first leg of the final qualifying round on June 8, with the return leg in Abuja a week after at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.

To reach the final round, the Flamingos spanked Burkina Faso 7-1 on aggregate, winning the second leg in Abuja 6-0.
