World Children Day 2024: Footprints of David Academy rolls out Moremi, talkshop

ON May 27, on occasion of the 2024 World Children Day, the Footprints of David Academy Foundation, FODAF, will be hosting a coterie of eminent people in the arts and culture sector, as well as its patrons to a full day of cultural features at its base, Seaside Cottage Theatre in Bariga, Lagos.

The troupe of mostly children and youths which is renowned for its voluptuous creative outputs will be staging the play, MOREMI, the story of the legendary women leader, who sacrificed her child for the peace and survival of her people in ancient Ile Ife in the present Osun State.

Written by Ayo Arigbabu and Lekan Balogun, the play is directed by Founder/Artistic Director of FODAF, Seun Awobajo, and produced by Seun Adeleye with choreography by Ridwan Rasheed. It will be staged at 3 pm at the Resort located at 54 Ajayi Olaiya Street off Obadiah street Ilaje Bariga.

With ticket at N10,000 per head, the proceed as well as/and “donations go towards the Free slum school project by Footprints of David Art Academy @brightachievers”, stated Awobajo. The Bright achievers are the indigent students and pupils that the Academy takes care of

Earlier in the day at noon, the FODA will stage a symposium on the story that informs the play. the Discussants will be examining if Moremi indeed was a saviour or a traitor, given the role she plays in the narrative.

The discussants, according to Awobajo, will include:
