Watford agree deal to sign Super Eagles star Dennis

EMMANUEL Dennis will play alongside his Super Eagles colleague William Troost-Ekong at Watford next season in the Premier League.

Newly promoted Watford announced a deal to sign the Nigerian forward on Monday night.

“An agreement with Club Brugges has been reached for the transfer of exciting young forward Emmanuel Dennis, Watford FC is delighted to confirm,” the club said in an official statement.

“The 23-year-old Nigerian spent part of last season on loan in Germany’s Bundesliga with 1. FC Köln, having first joined the Belgian top-flight side in the summer of 2017.”

Although Dennis struggled in Germany on loan, he played an important part in Brugge’s recent success.

He scored 27 goals in 91 appearances for the Belgian champions and excelled in their UEFA Champions League campaign, scoring a brace against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

“The Hornets are currently finalising personal terms with the pacy striker – capped twice by Nigeria so far – who began his professional career with some experience as a teenager in the Ukranian Premier League with Zorya Luhansk,” Watford added.

Dennis will link up with Super Eagles defender Troost-Ekong, who joined Watford at the beginning of last season and helped them gain promotion back to the Premier League, and another Nigerian at the club, Isaac Success.
