ARSENAL have completed their second signing of Friday, adding goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to midfielder Martin Odegaard who they signed earlier in the day.

England international Ramsdale joined the Gunners from Sheffield United for £24m, bringing their total spending in the current transfer window to £130m, more than any other Premier League club.

“Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined us on a long-term contract from Sheffield United,” the club confirmed on their official website on Friday night.

“The 23-year-old, who was part of England’s Euro 2020 squad, has represented England at all levels from Under-18 to Under-21 and was Sheffield United’s player of the year last season.”

The young goalkeeper began his career at Bolton Wanderers before moving to Sheffield United in 2013, progressing through their Academy.

Ramsdale signed for then Premier League side Bournemouth in 2017 and spent three years there before returning to Sheffield United in 2020.

He started every Premier League match for the Blades last season as they finished bottom of the table and got relegated to the Championship.

Ramsdale is Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer after Ben White (£50m), Martin Odegaard (£34m), Albert Sambi Lokonga (£15m) and Nuno Tavares (£7m).
