Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus from Manchester United has been confirmed by the Italian club.
Pogba, who became a free agent on June 30 after his Manchester United contract expired, completed the Juventus switch today, signing a four-year deal.
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has signed a contract of employment with
the player Paul Pogba,” the club said in their official statement today.
“As part of the player registration, Juventus will incur ancillary costs of €2.5 million, to be paid within 31 August 2022.
“Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2026.”
In a video Juventus posted on social media, Pogba said: “As you can see, I’m back and I’m very happy – I can’t wait to start with you and win trophies with you. We’ll be there on the pitch in the stadium, all together.”
Juventus added a touch of poetry on their website when describing the signing.
“When we say goodbye after an intense adventure shared together, there is always a glimmer of hope that we will see each other again, sooner or later,” Juventus wrote.
“He left as a boy and returns as a man and a champion, but there is one thing that has not changed – the desire to write unforgettable pages of club history together once more.
“Pogba is back and we couldn’t be happier.”
Pogba, 29, first left United in 2012 for a nominal fee to join Juventus. He returned to United in 2016 as the world’s most expensive player at the time, costing £89m.
His time with United was largely frustrating for himself and the club, with injuries and loss of form only brightened by occasional flashes of brilliance.
The 2018 World Cup winner with France made 232 appearances at Manchester United, scoring 39 goals and making 51 assists.
He won the UEFA Europa League and the Carabao Cup in 2017 at the club but there were no further trophies in the last five years.
