Manchester United have released an official statement confirming the agreement with Real Madrid for the acquisition of Casemiro.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had said earlier today that the Brazil midfielder was on his way out of the Spanish giants, and United have now announced that he is headed in their direction.
The deal is believed to be worth around £50 million in transfer fee and £10m in add-ons.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro,” the Premier League side stated on their official website tonight.
“The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical.
“Casemiro has played over 500 professional games, including 63 at international level for his native Brazil. He has won 17 major honours in his illustrious career including five Champions League titles and the Copa America.
“We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford.”
The 30-year is expected to arrive in England over the weekend for his medicals before completing the deal.
Casemiro will be reunited with his former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane, who joined United last year.
The holding midfielder joined Real Madrid from hometown club Sao Paulo in 2013 and played 336 times for the Spanish giants, scoring 31 goals and making 29 assists.
He won La Liga thrice and the UEFA Champions League title five times with Real Madrid, including last season.
He is Manchester United’s fourth signing this season after Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen.
