Leeds United produced a classy display at Elland Road today to stun Chelsea 3-0 in their Premier League clash, in which Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off.

Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison scored the goals as the hosts dominated a lethargic Chelsea side.

After an even opening period when both sides had half-chances, Leeds United got the lead they deserved.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was the major culprit, dallying on the ball and losing it to Aaronson, who rolled it into an empty net.

The 33rd minute strike made it the first time an American player (Aaronson) has scored a Premier League goal under an American manager (Jesse Marsch).

Leeds United doubled their advantage four minutes later, Rodrigo heading home his fourth Premier League goal of the season from Harrison’s delivery.

The hosts were not done scoring as they made it 3-0, with Rodrigo returning the compliment by touching the ball to Harrison to convert from close range in the 69th minute.

Things went from bad to worse for Chelsea in the 84th minute when Koulibaly was sent off for a second yellow card after he prevented a Leeds United counterattack with a foul.

Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Koulibaly has been sent off six times in Serie A and the Premier League combined – the most of any player in the big-five European leagues in this time, according to Opta statistics.

At the London Stadium, West Ham suffered their third straight defeat of the season as they succumbed 2-0 to Brighton.

An Alexis MacAllister penalty in the 22nd minute and a strike by Leandro Trossard in the 66th minute secured Brighton’s second win in three games.
