Anthony Joshua’s management has announced that he has accepted terms for a proposed world heavyweight title fight against champion Tyson Fury.

World Boxing Council champion Fury made the offer to Joshua last week, offering a 60-40 purse split in order to seal the much-anticipated bout.

Joshua’s management team, 258, said today that they had accepted Fury’s offer on behalf of the Nigerian and his promoter, Matchroom, and are awaiting the champion’s response.

In a Twitter message retweeted by Joshua, the management team wrote today: “258 and MatchroomBoxing can confirm, on behalf of Anthony Joshua, that we accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team for a fight Dec 3rd last Friday.

“Due to the Queen’s passing, it was agreed to halt all communication. We are awaiting a response.”

Fury made the offer after World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organisation and International Boxing Federation champion Oleksandr Usyk had ruled out fighting again until early next year.

Usyk beatJoshua for a second time in Saudi Arabia last month, and the Ukrainian plans to take some time out before returning to the ring.

Responding last week to Fury’s offer, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn expressed caution, questioning whether Fury was ‘serious’ about the fight.

British boxer Fury, 34, is unbeaten in 33 professional fights, winning 32 (23 via knockout) and drawing one.

On the other hand, 32-year-old Joshua, who has dual Nigerian and British nationalities, has lost three of his 27 professional fights, winning 22 via knockout.
