Fikayo Tomori has admitted AC Milan need to raise their game when they host Chelsea at San Siro tomorrow night in the UEFA Champions League.
The Serie A champions were handed a 3-0 thrashing by the English club at Stamford Bridge last Wednesday, and Tomori is keen for his side to show their true colours at home.
“The real AC Milan didn’t play against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, it’s important we set things right,” the former Chelsea defender said today during the pre-match press conference.
“After the match against Chelsea I was angry and I wanted to give everything on the pitch; when I scored the goal (against Juventus on Saturday) that was my feeling.
“I wanted to cancel the performance against Chelsea and I expressed how I felt. We are here tomorrow to redeem ourselves. We know we have to learn from this match.”
Tomori, 24, was born in Canada to Nigerian parents and was raised in England. He was eligible to play international football for all three countries but he opted for England.
The centre-back has found it tough earning a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, but he insists he is not giving up, especially with the Qatar 2022 World Cup just over a month away.
“Southgate told me that I have to keep going and that he watches every game,” he explained.
“Obviously I want to give my all to go to the World Cup and play for England.”
Tomori has made three appearances for the Three Lions since his debut in November 2019.
