Red-hot Osimhen steers Napoli past Udinese as Success grabs assist

Victor Osimhen kept up his searing hot form today with yet another goal to lead Napoli to a 3-2 win over Udinese at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The Super Eagles striker scored his ninth goal of the Serie A campaign, with Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas adding the other goals to extend Napoli’s lead at the top to 11 points.

Substitute Ilija Nestorovski and Lazar Samardzic struck for the visitors to ensure a nervy finish.

Osimhen headed Napoli ahead in the 15th minute with his seventh goal in six matches since returning from an injury lay-off in mid-October.

Zielinski made it 2-0 in the 31st minute and Elmas netted Napoli’s third as they looked to be heading for a comfortable victory.

Udinese were not dead and buried though as Nigerian forward Isaac Success, who replaced the injured Gerard Deulofeu in the first half, assisted Nestorovski in the 79th for the visitors to pull one back.

Samardzic scored three minutes later to leave Napoli hanging on for their 13th win in 15 Serie A games this term.

Osimhen is now the outright top scorer in Serie A with nine goals from 11 games, while Success has three assists but is yet to score.

Napoli are on 41 points, 11 ahead of second-placed AC Milan who have a game in hand. Udinese are eighth with 24 points.
