Governor Bagudu approves N80m for football kits in Kebbi, National Sports Festival

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has approved the release of N50 million for the purchase of sporting equipment for distribution to all football clubs in all the 21 local government areas of the state.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, today says this follows the establishment of a football academy by the state which has inspired many youths to participate in Nigeria’s No.1 sport.

Dakingari explained that the money is to procure 50 sets of small sized jerseys for young footballers, 50 sets of jerseys for adults, 260 sets of large size jerseys for league clubs, 200 pairs of track suits and 2,500 balls of different sizes.

The governor also approved the release of N30m for the state’s participation in the 21st National Sports Festival in Delta State to cover equipment, transportation, medical care, official allowances and logistics.

The National Sports Festival begins on Wednesday with the opening ceremony in Asaba.

The Kebbi State Chief Executive also approved the release of N3m for the Nigeria Progressives Governors Forum Unity Football Cup competition hosting rights to aid the organisation of the tournament.
