BRAZIL legend Ronaldo has named Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola as his preferred candidates to replace Tite as the national team head coach.

Tite resigned last week after a 4-2 defeat on penalties against Croatia in the Qatar 2022 World Cup quarter-finals.

All of the coaches Ronaldo has mentioned are all engaged at the moment, with Ancelotti at Real Madrid, Mourinho at AS Roma and Guardiola at Manchester City, but the two-time World Cup winner believes they could be convinced to handle Brazil.

Ancelotti is one of the candidates for the job, according to reports in Brazil, while Guardiola was not interested in the offer and extended his contract with Manchester City until 2025.

“I’d love it [Tite’s successor] to be someone like Guardiola, Ancelotti or Mourinho,” said Ronaldo, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994 as a teenager and 2002, when he was the star of the team.

“However, I’m not the one deciding, so let’s see what will happen. There are rumours about these coaches in Brazil, but I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t see issues with having a foreign coach for Brazil.

“Now, there will be a huge debate on the name of the next national team coach, and I see these names positively.”

Both Ancelotti and Mourinho’s contracts will expire in 2024. The Italian tactician returned to Real Madrid in 2021, signing a three-year deal. The situation is the same with Portuguese Mourinho, who signed for Roma last year.

Ronaldo did not feature in the 1994 World Cup when he was the youngest member of the Brazil squad aged 17.

He inspired his country to the 1998 final but had health issues before the match, which hosts France won 3-0.

The former PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid superstar then scored twice in 2002 final as Brazil beat Germany 2-0 to win their fifth title.
