ENUGU: Obi pays condolence visit to family of slain LP Senatorial candidate

THE Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Oyibo Chukwu, who was LP’s senatorial contender for Enugu East until his assassination at the hands of gunmen.

Chukwu and his personal assistant were assassinated by gunmen three days before the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.

Assailants in a Hilux car reportedly attacked and set fire to Chukwu’s campaign vehicle.

Obi paid a visit to the deceased’s relatives in Amurri, Enugu’s Nkanu West Local Government Area.

He is also scheduled to campaign for the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the state.

The former Anambra governor, who was joined by the governorship candidates of Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga, and Abia State, Alex Otti, urged residents to keep calm and assured them that justice will be served.

Julius Abure, the LP National Chairman, reaffirmed that the deceased candidate’s younger brother, Kelvin Chukwu, had replaced his elder brother on the ballot for next Saturday’s supplementary senatorial election.
