ABIA: State Assembly refutes plans to impeach Governor Ikpeazu

THE Abia State House of Assembly has stated that there is no intention of impeaching Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Addressing the press after meeting with Ikpeazu at the Governor’s Lodge in Aba, members of the State House of Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Ifeanyi Uchendu, denied a social media rumour that the House was planning to impeach the governor.

The Majority Leader of the House, Solomon Akpulonu, and the Minority Leader, Chukwu Chijioke, both added their voices, describing the rumour as a figment of the purveyors’ imaginations.

They stated that because the governor has done well in the state and the House is pleased with him, there is no need for impeachment.

They maintained that those spreading the rumor are only doing so to smear the State House of Assembly.

The Minority Leader, Chukwu Chijioke, specifically stated that an impeachment cannot be carried out without his knowledge as the Minority Leader.

The 13 members of the Abia State House of Assembly also urged Abians to disregard the unfounded rumour while assuring Ikpeazu that they would continue to support him to the end of his tenure.
