THE Nigeria Football Federation has announced a new date for the Federation Cup final between Bendel Insurance and Rangers of Enugu.

The final was initially scheduled for June 15 but the NFF said today it will be held on June 22 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

“A couple of issues have come up for us to deal with and we are doing that speedily,” NFF general secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi explained.

“The Grand Finale will still take place in Asaba and we are determined to make a showpiece of the event.”

The day will begin with the women’s final between holders Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels, which will kick off at 2pm.

The men’s final, between double-chasing Bendel Insurance of Benin and Rangers will kick off at 5pm.

Insurance, who are also in the running for the Nigeria Premier Football League title, won the cup in 1978, beating Rangers in the final, while the Flying Antelopes defeated Kano Pillars in the 2018 final, incidentally held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
