ARSENAL have identified Samuel Chukwueze as a target for this summer transfer window, according to reports in Italy.
The Super Eagles forward is also reportedly being pursued by Italian giants AC Milan, whose interest is believed to be solid.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport reported in their print edition yesterday that Arsenal have made official contact with Chukwueze’s representatives, as relayed by Football Italia.
The report added that the Gunners are seeking information about Chukwueze’s valuation and other important details before launching a bid.
According to Football Italia, Arsenal have stiff competition in AC Milan, who are keen on a new right winger and the name of the 24-year-old Nigeria international is high on their list.
Milan have reportedly spoken to Chukwueze’s agent, and Arsenal have registered their intention to add the skillful wide forward to their squad.
Chukwueze’s contract with Villarreal has one year to run and it is believed that €25m would be enough for the Spanish club to let him go.
According to Tuttosport, Chukwueze would be open a move to Milan, but his agents have still not discussed contract details with the Serie A giants.
It is believed that the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner would not be against playing in England with the Gunners too, who finished second in the Premier League last season and qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in years.
Arsenal already have a highly talented right winger in Bukayo Saka but the arrival of Chukwueze would provide competition and back-up for the England international.
Chukwueze had an impressive campaign last season, scoring six goals and making five assists in 37 LaLiga appearances as Villarreal finished fifth and earned a Europa League ticket.
