TWO massive deals were reportedly agreed in England overnight, with Moises Caicedo off to Liverpool from Brighton and Harry Kane making a switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich.
Several outlets reported this morning that Liverpool have agreed a £110m deal to buy Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, beating Chelsea to the midfielder after weeks of a very public pursuit by the Blues.
Chelsea were the frontrunners for Caicedo as they bid to strengthen their depleted midfield, and they were believed to have submitted a bid worth up to £100m late last night after weeks of haggling with Brighton for the 21-year-old Ecuador international.
However, the deal was hijacked by Liverpool, who offered £10m more and are set to discuss personal terms with Caicedo, with the aim of completing the English record transfer today.
Chelsea have not been totally ruled out but everything points to Caicedo heading to Liverpool to seal the £110m move, just two-and-a-half years after he joined Brighton for €5m from Ecuador’s Independiente.
Also overnight, Kane agreed to join Bayern Munich after Tottenham accepted a £100m bid from the perennial German Bundesliga champions.
The England captain reportedly agreed an offer of £400,000 per week from the German giants to bring an end to his 19-year stay at his childhood club.
Kane is said to have been initially reluctant to make the switch but the lure of silverware that Bayern almost guarantee swayed him towards leaving Spurs, where he is the all-time top scorer with 280 goals from 435 appearances in all competitions.
The 30-year-old striker is also second on the list of all-time Premier League leading scorers with his 213 goals in the competition, 47 shy of record holder Alan Shearer.
Kane, who has only one year left in his Tottenham contract, is expected to travel to Germany today to seal a four-year deal after undergoing his medical tests.
