Liverpool cruise past Villa as Eze inspires Palace to victory

LIVERPOOL earned their third consecutive English Premier League victory today, beating Aston Villa 3-0 at Anfield, just as Eberechi Eze scored in Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win over Wolves.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s first goal for Liverpool, a Matty Cash own goal and a Mohamed Salah strike in the second half earned Jurgen Klopp’s side the comfortable home win.

New signing Szoboszlai struck with a fine left-footed shot in the third minute to give Liverpool an early lift-off, with Cash inadvertently directing the ball into the Villa net after Darwin Nunez’s shot had rebounded off the post midway into the first half to make it 2-0.

Salah put icing on the cake 10 minutes after the break as Liverpool rose to third in the table with 10 points, two behind leaders Manchester City.

Villa have now won two and lost two of their first four matches of the season.

At Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace secured their second win of the campaign, with Eze scoring their second goal 12 minutes from time.

The England midfielder with Nigerian blood restored Crystal Palace’s lead after Hwang Hee-chan had cancelled out Odsonne Edouard’s opening goal.

Edouard scored again in the 84th minute to double Palace’s lead but Matheus Cunha struck in stoppage time to ensure a nervy conclusion.
