Super Eagles round-up: Simon scores as Iwobi, Onyeka, Aribo come off bench

MOSES Simon posted a man-of-the-match performance today for Nantes as they secured a 5-3 Ligue 1 victory over Lorient.

The Super Eagles star scored Nantes’ fifth goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time after assisting two of the first four goals.

The Nigeria winger has now recorded two goals and three assists in six games in the French top flight this season for sixth-placed Nantes.

Moses, who also scored last Sunday in the 1-0 win at Clermont Foot, has started all six of Nantes’ matches this term.

In the same match, Nigerian-born Benin Republic striker Tosin Aiyegun netted his second goal of the season for Lorient.

In England, there was no place in the starting line-up for three Super Eagles stars — Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka and Joe Aribo — at their different clubs today.

Iwobi was a 75th minute substitute for Andreas Pereira as his side Fulham held their hosts Crystal Palace to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old Nigeria midfielder has made two appearances off the bench and is yet to start for Fulham since joining them from Everton on transfer deadline day at the beginning of September.

On their parts, Onyeka played the final 28 minutes for Brentford in the 3-1 home defeat to Everton while Aribo came on in the 83rd minute for Southampton in their 2-1 Championship loss at Middlesbrough, who secured their first victory of the campaign.
