VICTOR Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho will not be available for tomorrow’s friendly match between the Super Eagles and Mozambique, it has been confirmed.
The three-time African champions take on their continental rivals tomorrow in Portimao, Portugal three days after drawing 2-2 with Saudi Arabia in the same city.
Both Osimhen and Iheanacho featured in Friday’s match, the Napoli striker starting before picking up a knock while the Leicester City forward came on as a substitute to score a fine goal.
The two have been ruled out of the Mozambique friendly for different reasons, according to information from the Super Eagles camp in Portugal.
The team’s media said today that Osimhen and Iheanacho have already left camp, therefore will not be in Jose Peseiro’s squad for tomorrow’s fixture.
In a camp update issued today, the Super Eagles media team said Osimhen left camp as a ‘precautionary measure’ on the advice of the medical team, while Iheanacho’s early departure was to attend to ‘pressing personal issues’.
Osimhen is expected to head straight to Naples to see his club’s doctors to assess the damage ahead of key Serie A and UEFA Champions League fixtures next week.
In the absence of the two, Peseiro has plenty of options in attack, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, Real Sociedad’s Umar Sadiq, OGC Nice’s Terem Moffi and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
