DOMESTIC flight operations resumed at Kaduna International Airport after being suspended for nearly five months due to security concerns and other logistical challenges.

A commercial passenger plane from Lagos landed at the airport at 5:10 p.m. on Monday, marking the resumption of flight operations along the route.

Adamu Sheikh, the manager of Kaduna International Airport, declared the airport safe and secure for both passengers and airline operations, stressing that the airport was never closed due to bandit attacks.

In March 2022, bandits raided the airport’s precinct, forcing flight operations to be halted.

Although Azman Air continued to operate along the Kaduna Airport route following the attack, flights into the airport were later banned roughly five months ago, forcing travelers on the Lagos-Kaduna route to either land in Kano or Abuja and proceed to Kaduna by road.

However, a commercial passenger plane from Lagos landed at the airport yesterday, much to the delight of airport personnel and passengers, who urged the government to keep the airport safe and operational.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), more airlines are expected to resume operations at Kaduna Airport.

The airport managers also assured passengers and aircraft operators that necessary security measures had been implemented to ensure their safety.
