MEDICAL students from Benue State University have protested and besieged the government house over what they claim is arbitrary withdrawal of their colleagues, a lack of water, and overcrowding of up to five students in a room, rather than two.

The president of the medical students, Imenger Charles, revealed this while speaking to Governor Hyacinth Alia, who dispatched his Chief of Staff, Paul Biam, to engage the protesting medical students and establish a common ground.

The governor reminded students of his timely approval of their long-suspended bond scheme and accreditation, and informed them that plans to commence building of extra hostel accommodation were in the works.

Prof. Joseph Iorapuu, Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, however, stated that plans for the construction of new hostel accommodation had been finalized.

The Vice Chancellor also urged the protesting medical students to resume their academic duties so that the complaints may be addressed in a timely manner.
