THE Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that his administration intends to build five flyovers to reduce traffic congestion across the state within the next year.

The governor also stated that 45 roads from the state’s 30 local government areas have been selected for construction as part of the state’s N100 billion infrastructure development plan.

Adeleke, who spoke in Osogbo yesterday, revealed other projects chosen for execution by the administration and stated that the projects would be financed completely by the government without borrowing from financial institutions.

The governor, who also stated that the project would be carried out with a preference for local suppliers of materials and contractors, went on to say that two flyovers will be built in Osogbo, one in Ile-Ife, one in Owode-Ede, and one in Ikirun town.

Other projects highlighted include the rehabilitation of 345 health centers in Osun State’s 332 Wards, phase two of portable water service in Osun State’s 332 Wards, and phase two of the rehabilitation of 31 schools in Osun State’s 30 local governments.

Roads in Osogbo, Ede, and Ilesa have also been dualized.

The governor also warned hoodlums against extorting money from contractors that would handle the projects, saying “We are getting set to key into infra financing opportunities as long as it will not add to the financial burden of the state.

“Let me declare here that the infra plan I am about to unveil is purely state-sponsored without any loan from financial institutions. I must also add that we are hitting the ground running immediately after this launch. We are complying with all procurement laws and due process.

“Very importantly, our administration is ensuring localization in the implementation process. Local content in terms of sourcing of materials and workforce are key to transfer skills and economically empower our people.”
