MANCHESTER United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that everyone at the club is not pleased with the very poor start to the season, although he insisted his star forward March Rashford ‘will be back’.

The Red Devils have had one of their worst starts to a campaign ever, losing nine of their first 17 matches in all competitions, including a 4-3 UEFA Champions League defeat at FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night.

The club’s slump is typified by the shocking decline of Rashford, who has scored only one goal this season in 15 appearances.

The England forward was United’s top scorer with 30 goals in all competitions last season as they won the Carabao Cup, reached the FA Cup final and finished third in the Premier League in Ten Hag’s first campaign.

“He (Rashford) is not happy. We are not happy,” Ten Hag said today during his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Luton Town at Old Trafford.

“He has high expectations from himself, at the moment he is not in his best form but I know he will be back.

“When the team is playing better, he will play better, he will score goals, I’m confident of that, so yeah, also this season he will improve and score.

“He’s totally in the team and aware of everything. he will be back on track and it can happen very quickly. Sometimes you only need one game and I’m sure he will get there.”

Ten Hag, who was lured to United after four successful seasons at Ajax in his home country the Netherlands, has had his future at Old Trafford questioned, but he claimed his sole focus is on improving the side’s flagging fortunes.

“I think we often proved we can, like at Fulham, Brentford, this team can overcome big setbacks,” he said.

“It’s about the end result and we have to win every game, so we are very disappointed. Finally, it’s about the end result and it’s always about a process, thinking about it and then managing the process, which is what I focus on.”
