THE Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has urged residents, particularly Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters, not to do anything that will jeopardize the state’s peace following last Sunday’s Court of Appeal decision nullifying his election.

On his return to the state following the appeal court decision, the governor talked to journalists today at the Yakubu Gowon Airport.

He took advantage of the occasion to express confidence in the judiciary, emphasizing that he would not back down from defending the mandate that he believes was overwhelmingly granted to him by the people.

The Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang, Jos, was packed with government officials, supporters, and PDP officials to greet and show solidarity with the governor.

Governor Mutfwang was greeted by the deputy governor and members of the State Executive Council in the midst of a crowd of supporters who flocked to the airport to show their continued support for the governor’s government.

Mutfwang was out of the state when the Court of Appeal declared that his election victory, along with that of all elected federal and state legislators, should be overturned.

The governor intends to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
