Just recently, in a riveting chat with Afrobeats Intelligence, acclaimed music honcho Don Jazzy disclosed that he advices his label artistes at Mavin Records to emulate the street-pop maverick, Portable, for his tenacity towards maintaining his stardom status.

“When Zazoo (Portable) broke out, he got to a million followers on Instagram faster than BNXN who had seven number 1 songs in the country. However, just because he was entertaining us, somehow the algorithm favoured him and people generally wanted to see what he always had to say. Portable stayed in the limelight and refused to leave there. I tell my artistes that if you go and sit down and start forming, the algorithm would abandon you,” he said.

It seems like Portable’s penchant for virality has since bagged him some good exposure on a global scene, as Nigerian-British rapper Skepta joined the list of A-list mavericks to co-sign the Zazoo crooner. At the just-concluded British Fashion Week, in London, Portable was seen tagging along with the Hip-hop heavyweight who he described as a riveting host.

He also touted that the UK musician gifted him wads of cash, totaling above 10,000 British Pounds, as well giving him a befitting hosting experience at a private residence in London.
