EKITI: Kidnappers of pupils, teachers demand N100m ransom

KIDNAPPERS have demanded a ransom of N10 million for each of the abducted pupils and teachers from The Apostolic Faith Montessori School in Emure Ekiti.

The victims, consisting of five pupils, four teachers, and the school’s bus driver, were taken earlier in the week while returning to Eporo Ekiti after school hours.

The families of the victims and a school representative confirmed that the abductors have made contact and are requesting the said amount for each captive.

Expressing concern over the prevalence of gunmen in the area, they appealed to all levels of government to ensure the provision of adequate security for all citizens.

The Ekiti State Police Command has deployed operatives to work on rescuing the abductees, and residents are hopeful that security agents will keep their promise to bring their loved ones back safely.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Government had pledged to collaborate with security agencies to secure the release of the victims, emphasizing that security measures are being intensified across the state to root out criminal elements from their hideouts.

Governor Oyebanji has also requested that citizens stay calm and vigilant while cooperating with security agencies by providing relevant information to the authorities.
