SUPER Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen’s red-hot form after the AFCON 2023 Africa Cup of Nations continued tonight as he struck a hat-trick to inspire Napoli to a 6-1 Serie A victory away to Sassuolo.
Osimhen, who scored only one goal at AFCON 2023 despite having an impressive campaign, has now scored in three consecutive matches since returning to Napoli from the tournament.
This evening, the 25-year-old scored twice in the first half and once after the break as Napoli earned their first win under new manager Francesco Calzona.
Osimhen netted in the 31st, 41st and 47th minutes to complete his second Serie A hat-trick, with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia adding a brace and Amir Rrahmani opening the scoring.
The Nigeria international also scored in the 1-1 UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw with Barcelona last week and the Serie A fixture at Cagliari, which also ended 1-1.
Osimhen has taken his tally this season to an impressive 11 goals and three assists in 15 Serie A appearances.
With tonight’s win, Napoli stay in the ninth spot, eight points behind fourth-placed Bologna in the race for Champions League slots.
