LIVERPOOL’S hopes of sending off their manager Jurgen Klopp with the English Premier League title took another hit today as they were held to a 2-2 draw by West Ham at the London Stadium.
The Reds came from behind to lead in the second half but a late West Ham goal denied them of all three points in the early kick-off.
Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring for the hosts, heading home from a corner kick two minutes before half-time.
Liverpool were stung by the goal and responded quickly, going level just three minutes after the break through Andy Robertson.
Klopp’s side needed a bit of fortune to take the lead in the 65th minute as Cody Gakpo’s mishit shot that was going well wide took two deflections off West Ham players before going in off goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Michail Antonio levelled for the Hammers with another header 13 minutes from time to ensure Liverpool have dropped points in three of their last four Premier League fixtures.
There was some Liverpool drama after West Ham’s equaliser, with Mohamed Salah arguing with Klopp as the Egypt forward was on the sidelines waiting to be substituted on.
Salah eventually came on in the 79th minute but had no impact as West Ham held on to their one point.
Liverpool remain third in the table, two points behind leaders Arsenal who have a game in hand, and one adrift of Manchester City, who have played two games fewer than the Reds.
