ARSENAL have reportedly shown an interest in Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, the Dutch forward with Nigerian heritage.
Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are also believed to be monitoring the 22-year-old, who has played a key role in Bologna’s surprise bid for a fourth-place finish in Serie A and a UEFA Champions League spot.
According to Football Italia, Zirkzee has attracted the attention of the top three in Serie A for some time, with Inter, AC Milan and Juventus all keen to fight for his signature.
Bayern Munich hold a €40m buy-back clause but will reportedly not have it activated.
Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported today that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker in the summer and have set their sights on Zirkzee, seriously interested in competing with Milan and Juventus for the forward.
Inter are believed to have given up on Zirkzee and moved on to other targets, while AC Milan are planning to offer up to €50m for the striker.
Juventus could also look to take advantage of Bologna head coach Thiago Motta’s possible move to Turin to try and convince the Dutch-Nigerian forward of a move, according to Football Italia.
Zirkzee, whose middle name Orobosa is of Nigerian origin, was born in the Netherlands to a Dutch father and Nigerian mother.
He has played for the Netherlands from U-15 to U-21 level but is yet to feature for their senior national team, therefore is still eligible for the Super Eagles.
Zirkzee joined Bologna from Bayern Munich in August 2022 for €8.5m and has been one of their best players this season, registering 11 goals and five assists in 32 appearances for the club currently fourth in Serie A.
