CHELSEA have made contact with Napoli with a tempting offer for Victor Osimhen, according to reports in Italy.
Sky Sport Italia claimed late last night and this morning that the English Premier League club will try to offer Romelu Lukaku plus €90m and a young player to get the Super Eagles of Nigeria striker from the Serie A side.
Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season, as was reportedly agreed with the club when negotiating his new contract last year, and there is a release clause believed to be worth €120m.
Paris Saint-Germain have been mentioned as favourites to get Osimhen in recent days as they search for a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe, but Chelsea and Arsenal are also in pursuit of the 25-year-old striker.
Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Chelsea made ‘first contact’ with Napoli last night enquiring about Osimhen.
Di Marzio added that Juventus are also interested in Lukaku, which may complicate the Chelsea move for Osimhen, while PSG are expected to open negotiations for the Nigerian soon.
Lukaku cost Chelsea €113m from Inter Milan in August 2021 but struggled in his first season back at the London club and is currently on loan at AS Roma.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 and was the top scorer in Serie A last season as they won their first Scudetto in 33 years.
Overall, the Nigeria international has produced 75 goals and 18 assists in 130 appearances for Napoli.
