SUPER Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been voted the UEFA Europa League Player of the Week after his excellent performance in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Marseille in Bergamo on Thursday night.
The Nigeria international scored one goal and assisted another in the semi-final second leg as Atalanta advanced to their first-ever European final in their 117-year history.
Lookman opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a low shot from outside the box after beating a defender and then assisted Matteo Ruggeri in the 52nd minute.
El Bilal Toure, who replaced Lookman in the 76th minute, netted Atalanta’s third goal as they reached the final 4-1 on aggregate. They will face Bayer Leverkusen in the final in Dublin, Ireland on May 22.
In addition to his goal and assist, Lookman had a brilliant game overall and made three attempts on goal.
The 26-year-old former Everton and Fulham star has now contributed two goals and one assist in eight Europa League starts this season.
In all competitions, Lookman has registered 12 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances (29 starts).
