MANCHESTER City midfielder Rodri has claimed that the difference between his side and Arsenal is the ‘mentality’ after they beat the Gunners to the English Premier League title.

Rodri scored Manchester City’s third goal in the 3-1 home win yesterday that secured the title, making them the first club in history to win the English top flight four times in a row.

Arsenal finished two points behind Manchester City and Rodri feels Mikel Arteta’s side need to start thinking like winners throughout the campaign.

“I think the difference was here (points to his head), the mentality,” the Spain international told Optus Sports as his Manchester City colleagues celebrated their success.

“It’s in the mentality. There are great players all over the clubs in the league, Arsenal also.”

Rodri went on to cite an example of the stark difference between the mentality of the two clubs.

“When Arsenal came here at the Etihad, I saw them. Ah, these guys, they don’t want to beat us, they just want to draw,” he explained.

“And that mentality, we wouldn’t do it the same way.

“In the end we caught them. If you give us one point we’ll win the next seven, eight games. We always believe because we’ve done it before and we know how tough it is. For instance we had to beat Tottenham and we’d never won there.

“It’s not easy to do it but every season the manager and the players find a way to get it done. Even myself, comparing my first season here and now, you grow a lot in this sense.”

Pep Guardiola has now led Manchester City to win six Premier League titles in his eight years as Manchester City manager.
