NNL play-offs: Nasarawa, El-Kanemi, Ikorodu City, Beyond Limits promoted to NPFL


FOUR teams have gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League from the Nigeria National League play-offs in Enugu, including Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors, who are returning to the top flight.

The four sides won in their NNL play-offs matches today to seal the top two positions in the Northern Conference and Southern Conference of the second division.

In the Northern Conference deciders earlier in the day, Nasarawa United of Lafia defeated Sporting Supreme 2-1 to finish in the top position with nine points.

El-Kanemi Warriors thrashed Sokoto United 4-1 to claim second spot on six points and join Nasarawa United in regaining their NPFL status.

In the Southern Conference later in the day, Beyond Limits emerged on top with seven points after a 1-0 victory over Inter Lagos, while Ikorodu City saw off Madiba FC 2-0 to claim the second promotion spot with five points.

Each team in the NNL play-offs played three matches with the top two from each of the Northern Conference and Southern Conference gaining promotion to the NPFL.

Ikorodu City, established just two years ago, and Beyond Limits will be playing in the NPFL for the first time.
