The Ikorodu High Court in Lagos State has approved three laboratories, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States, where DNA tests will be conducted to determine the paternity of Liam, the child left behind by the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.
Liam’s paternity has been disputed multiple times by Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father. Mr. Aloba states that the remains of the late Mohbad, who passed away on September 27, 2023, will not be laid to rest until a DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.
At the resumed hearing of the paternity case between Mr. Aloba and Wunmi, the singer’s widow, Mohbad’s legal counsel told reporters:
“The court has finally selected three DNA laboratory centers, two in the UK and one in the US. One from us, one from them, and the court chose an independent one. The matter has been adjourned to April 7th for us to report on the sample collection. Before that, we will coordinate with welfare officers to ensure samples are taken under supervision and monitored. All parties will be present when the samples are collected.”
He also mentioned that his legal team and the Aloba family will ensure they have representatives at each of the centers where the samples will be sent and the tests conducted.
