Lamido mocks Malami: ‘He called me a thief, Nigerians can now see who owns what’

Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has hit back at ex-Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami over past corruption allegations, declaring that recent developments have exposed “who owns what” among political figures.

In an interview with DCL Hausa, Lamido dismissed Malami’s earlier accusations — including a court case where he was labelled a thief — as politically motivated.

He insisted he served with integrity and challenged public scrutiny: “When Abubakar Malami was Minister of Justice, he took me to court and accused me of being a thief. But today, it is clear that what he owns, I do not own. Do I have a hotel in Birnin Kudu or houses in Abuja?”

Lamido’s remarks come as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeks the final forfeiture of 57 properties allegedly linked to Malami before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The assets, tied to companies such as Rayhaan Bustan and Agro Allied Ltd, Rayhaan University Ltd, Rayhaan Hotels Ltd, and others, are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.

Malami has denied the claims, describing them as a witch-hunt, while Lamido urged Nigerians to judge such allegations with discernment amid calls for greater transparency in public office. 15 web pages
