THE Imo State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim during a coordinated intelligence-led operation targeting criminal hideouts in parts of Owerri West Local Government Area.

The operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, was carried out across the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala forest axis as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal camps and strengthen security in the state.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the police said the operation was conducted in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, communicated through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie.

The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to deny criminal groups safe havens and improve internal security across Imo State.

During the operation, officers rescued an injured kidnap victim, identified as Chinonaobi Uchegbulam from Ubaha Orodo, from a forest hideout believed to have been used by criminal elements.

The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility, where he is receiving treatment and is reported to be responding positively.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, Commissioner Bosso reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at eliminating kidnapping and other violent crimes within the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, stressing that timely and credible information from members of the public remains essential in the fight against criminality and in maintaining peace across Imo State.
