SUSPECTED armed robbers have attacked a 132KVA power substation in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, carting away valuable equipment from the facility.

The substation, located at Temidire/Ajeja along Ikirun Road, was reportedly invaded yesterday by about six armed men.

According to sources, the suspects arrived heavily armed and equipped with tools used to remove components from the station.

A security guard at the facility, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the incident, noting that the attackers successfully escaped after the operation.

Following the attack, some chiefs from the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Afolabi Olaoye, visited the station to assess the situation.

Officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) also arrived from the Ganmo station in Ilorin, where the Temidire substation is expected to be connected.

Members of the delegation included Assistant General Manager of Transmission, Engr. Adetunji, Engr. Afusat Umar Muazu, and Engr. Adetoyinbo A. Adekunle.

As of this morning, authorities are yet to disclose the value of the equipment stolen during the attack.
