Nollywood actress Judy Austin has addressed longstanding allegations surrounding her relationship with actor Yul Edochie, insisting that she had no involvement in the collapse of her previous marriage.
In a video shared on Instagram, Austin stated that she first met Edochie on a movie set in 2016, dismissing claims that their relationship contributed to the end of her marriage to her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi.
According to the actress, members of the film production team, including the executive producer, are still alive and can verify when she first met Edochie.
Austin also accused Obasi of making false allegations against her and giving conflicting accounts of events over the years.
Addressing claims that Edochie prevented Obasi from having access to his children, Austin argued that her former husband had made contradictory statements regarding the issue. She maintained that she never denied him access to their children and alleged that he made little effort to remain actively involved in their lives.
The actress further credited Edochie for supporting and helping to raise her children, describing him as a father figure who has contributed to their welfare, including paying school fees and providing care.
Austin also cautioned bloggers and content creators against publishing what she described as unverified information about her and Edochie, warning that those responsible for spreading false claims would be held accountable.
“I met him three years after my marriage ended, and that is not a crime,” she said.
Concluding her remarks, Austin stated that the allegations against her would be addressed through legal channels and urged the public to stop directing criticism at Edochie over the controversy.
The actress’s comments come amid renewed public discussions surrounding her relationship with Edochie and her past marriage.
