The Christian movie industry is mourning following the death of gospel actor Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, who was widely recognised for portraying Flora’s husband in the popular Mount Zion film series, Abattoir.
The news of his passing was announced on Wednesday via an Instagram post by the Bowen University Alumni Association.
The association did not disclose the cause of his death but described him as a respected alumnus, drama minister, and a man whose life positively impacted many through Christian ministry.
They also urged alumni to remember his family in their prayers, asking God to offer them strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time.
Members residing in Ibadan and nearby areas were encouraged to attend his burial and pay their final respects.
According to the burial announcement, a Service of Songs will be held in Ibadan, today, Thursday, July 2, with his burial scheduled for Friday, July 3, at the Garden of Saints Cemetery.
Attendees are requested to wear white clothing.
Oyeyemi featured in several productions by Mount Zion Faith Ministries beyond Abattoir.
He appeared in films such as Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya, and Finding Grace.
Throughout his career, he was known for playing Christian characters and using film as a platform to share the gospel message.
His death has again brought attention to the increasing number of losses linked to the Abattoir cast in recent years.
In February 2025, actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who portrayed Flora in Abattoir and was Oyeyemi’s on-screen wife, died from injuries sustained in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 26, 2024.
The crash also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.
Oyeyemi’s passing follows the death of another Abattoir actor, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, who died in 2024.
