THE Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened legal action against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, demanding ₦10 billion in damages over allegations linking him to corruption, bribery, murder, abuse of office and other criminal acts.

The threat was conveyed in a letter dated July 6, 2026, issued by Pinheiro LP and signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kemi Pinheiro, who is representing the Chief of Staff.

According to the letter, Gbajabiamila’s legal team described the allegations made during Adeyemi’s recent press conference as false, malicious and without any factual basis.

The lawyers argued that the claims were intended to damage their client’s reputation by portraying him as corrupt, dishonest, criminally culpable and unfit to hold public office.

Among the allegations rejected by the legal team were claims that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 per cent share of the alleged take-off grant for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), received ₦400 million through intermediaries in connection with appointments, abused his office, manipulated government processes, misused security agencies and participated in criminal activities, including murder.

Gbajabiamila’s lawyers insisted that the accusations are defamatory and have caused significant reputational harm due to their widespread circulation across traditional and social media platforms.

The legal team has given Adeyemi 72 hours to stop making or publishing further defamatory statements, remove the disputed press conference and related content from all platforms under his control, and issue a full retraction and unconditional apology.

They also demanded that the apology be published with the same level of prominence as the original allegations in at least five national newspapers, on all platforms where the claims appeared and across every social media account used to disseminate them.

In addition, Adeyemi is expected to provide a written undertaking that he will refrain from making further defamatory statements against Gbajabiamila.

The lawyers warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in both civil and criminal legal proceedings. The proposed suit includes a criminal complaint for alleged defamation under the laws of the Federal Capital Territory and a civil action seeking ₦10 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages, which they said would be donated to charities selected by Gbajabiamila.

The legal team also plans to seek a perpetual injunction restraining any future defamatory publications, alongside a court order compelling Adeyemi to publish a retraction and apology.

The dispute follows a June 25 press conference in which Adeyemi accused the Chief of Staff of seeking a share of the alleged take-off funds of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, receiving money through proxies, abusing his office and participating in efforts to conceal wrongdoing.
