THE Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has stated that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are increasingly worried about the growing influence of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general election.

Tambuwal made the remarks while receiving Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, the former Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, into the ADC after his resignation from the APC. During the event, he referred to Tinubu as an outgoing president.

According to Tambuwal, the ruling party has allegedly made several attempts to frustrate the ADC’s progress, but those efforts have not succeeded.

“President Bola Tinubu, who is leaving office, has been losing sleep because of the ADC. Everywhere he looks, he sees Atiku Abubakar,” Tambuwal said.

He further alleged that there had been repeated attempts to prevent the ADC from gaining public prominence, adding that those plans had been unsuccessful.

Tambuwal also criticised the Federal Government, arguing that it has not done enough to tackle the country’s worsening security challenges and other pressing national issues.

Speaking on the movement of politicians into the opposition party, the former governor said many political figures have been reluctant to join the ADC because of concerns about the consequences of leaving the ruling APC.

He noted that many defectors prefer to move to other opposition parties rather than the ADC, insisting that only politicians who prioritise Nigeria’s interests above personal ambitions are willing to align with the party.
