SIX people have died after a lightning strike during a heavy rainstorm in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, according to the state police command.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m. in Dadiri-Tirigali village, where nine people were reportedly working on a farm when the lightning struck.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, said the command received an emergency report from the Ganye Divisional Headquarters shortly after the disaster.
He explained that police officers were immediately deployed to the scene, where they found all nine victims lying unconscious.
According to Nguroje, three of the victims later regained consciousness, while six others were confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The police have described the incident as a natural disaster and expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives.
