WITH everything in place for the First Nigerian Poetry Conference (NIPOCON 2026), Poetry Enclave (POEN), Ibadan, is set to make a statement of poetic excellence that will for a long time stay in the house of memory.
Themed POETRY FOR ACTIVISM AND CHANGE the conference will hold on August 7 & 8, 2026 at the Elders’ Place, 17 Abinusawa Street, off Idi-Ape-Basorun Road, Ibadan, with Dr. David Adewole as Chief Host.
According to the Convener, Ebika Anthony who is the President of Poetry Enclave, Ibadan, NIPOCON 2026 will be attended by poets from within and outside Oyo State who believe in the ideals of poetry as a creative channel to uplift the society in the areas of entertainment, sociocultural and sociopolitical developments.
Expected to deliver the keynote address based on NIPOCON 2026 theme, is Dr. Akin Tella. Dr. Tella is a Nigerian academic based in the Department of English at the University of Ibadan. His teaching and research span core areas of language studies, including discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, varieties of English, and basic English grammar. His scholarly training and contributions reflect a strong grounding in linguistic and stylistic traditions. Dr.Tella’s research contributions focus largely on discourse-oriented and stylistic-driven analyses of literary texts, political communication, media texts and cultural expressions in Nigeria.
