SUPER Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare is on the verge of leaving Wolves for Ajax Amsterdam.
Various reports across Europe today have claimed that the deal for Arokodare to join the Dutch giants is very close, as he seeks to end his nightmare spell at Wolves.
The Nigeria international has struggled at the English club, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, and has been seeking an exit.
According to reports, both Wolves and Ajax have reached agreement on a loan deal for the 25-year-old Arokodare, with a buy option of over €22 million.
The deal also includes full wage coverage, with Wolves to receive bonuses linked to Ajax’s European qualification.
Arokodare’s time at Wolves has been far from successful since joining from Belgian club Genk last summer in a £24 million deal.
He scored just six goals in 38 games in all competitions for the club as they finished bottom of the Premier League and got demoted to the Championship.
While Arokodare was believed to have favoured a switch to Fiorentina in Serie A, Wolves had reportedly agreed a fee with Trabzonspor and preferred him to join the Turkish club.
The Nigeria striker had to come out to defend himself and set the record straight after reports claimed he had disrupted Wolves training in a bid to force a move.
Arokodare will join a handful of Nigeria internationals to have played for Ajax, including Finidi George and Nwankwo Kanu, who won the UEFA Champions League with the club in 1995, as well Tijani Babangida and Sunday Oliseh.
