OYO: Gunmen on bikes kill 4 farmers in Konkobudo hours after Wakilu’s arrest

RESIDENTS of Konkobudo village, were thrown into mourning this morning following the gruesome killing of at least four farmers by gunmen.

Konkobudo is a border village located between Ibarapa North and Iwajowa Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

It was gathered that the gunmen on motorcycles stormed the village before sunrise  and shot the farmers who were asleep on their farmland. 

Reports also have it that the criminals hacked their victims before fleeing the village.

A resident of the village, Ogunniyi Joel, said the remains of the victims had been taken away by men of the Nigeria Police Force in Iwajowa.

“They came overnight on about 10 motorbikes, shot the four farmers, hacked them and left. One of those killed is Sunday Okanlawon, a close relation. No one knows their identities whether they were herdsmen or not but the bodies of the farmers have been taken away by the police,” Joel told  Punch newspaper.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of Igangan Development Advocates in Ibarapaland, Oguntowo Abideen, confirmed the incident.

There have been insinuations that the killing may be reprisals by men loyal to the notorious Fulani Warlord, Iskilu Wakilu, who was arrested yesterday by men of the Oodua Peoples Congress.

Wakilu, before his arrest, had allegedly been terrorising the Ibarapa North Area of Oyo State.
