VICTOR Osimhen’s impressive recent form has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s big hitters.

The Nigeria international has played a huge role in Napoli’s brilliant start to the season, scoring six goals in the last two weeks as they maintain a 100 per cent record in Serie A.

The 22-year-old joined Napoli for around €80m last season and scored 10 goals in 30 appearances of a campaign disrupted by injuries and illness.

But having scored six goals in his first six games of the current campaign, including a brace against Leicester City in the Europa League, big clubs including Manchester United have started to make enquiries about his availability.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Tuesday that a number of clubs have ‘already started to follow’ Osimhen, with Manchester United among the list of big-spending suitors.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will need a new striker next season, with Edinson Cavani set to leave and Cristiano Ronaldo unable to play every game at 36 years old.

The Italian newspaper however claims that any move for the Super Eagles star ‘would cost no less than €120m’, whoch is ‘double what was paid two summers ago’.

The €60m rising up to €80m spent on Osimhen to acquire him from Lille is now considered a ‘real coup on the market’, which could ‘turn into a huge capital gain’.

However, the paper believes ‘there is no possibility of a sale right now, suggesting that any potential deal would have to wait until next summer.

Osimhen’s deal with Napoli is until 2025, and there is the possibility of an extension, although there are suggestions that he is ‘pleasantly surprised by the interest he has managed to create around his person’.

However, he might be keen on staying at Napoli for a bit longer as he is regarded as one of the club’s most important players.
