ARSENAL opened up a seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League tonight, right after Liverpool secured their third straight victory.

The Gunners were too strong for West Ham at the Emirates Stadium, beating the visitors 3-1 after going behind.

Said Benrahma fired West Ham in front from the penalty spot in the 27th minute after William Saliba committed a foul in the box.

The goal was against the run of play but West Ham held the dominant hosts off into half-time, after a penalty awarded to Arsenal for handball was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee.

Arsenal came back from the break all guns blazing and they responded with two quick goals.

England international with Nigerian heritage Bukayo Saka hauled them level in the 53rd minute when he slotted home from Martin Odegaard’s deflected effort.

Gabriel Martinelli completed the turnaround five minutes later with a fine finish, while Eddie Nketiah put some gloss on the score line in the 69th minute with a neat turn and shot.

Arsenal are now seven points clear of second-placed Newcastle United in the table, although third-placed Manchester City could cut it back down to five with a win at Leeds United on Wednesday night.

In the other late kick-off tonight just before the Arsenal game, Liverpool saw off Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and teenage substitute Stefan Bajcetic netted for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they won three league games in a row for the first time this season.

Liverpool are up to sixth, five points off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur who have played one game more.

Villa are 12th while West Ham are 16th, just one point above the relegation zone.
