CHELSEA secured their first Premier League win since October with a comfortable 2-0 result against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge tonight.
Kai Havertz and Mason Mount struck in the first half to end Chelsea’s three-match Premier League losing streak.
It is also Graham Potter’s side’s first win in six Premier League games, since their last victory at Aston Villa on October 16.
Chelsea were dominant against the promoted side and edged in front in the 16th minute when Havertz finished off Raheem Sterling’s ball across the box.
It was 2-0 eight minutes later as Havertz turned provider for Mount to curl in a fine goal, his first at home in one year.
The hosts created more openings after the break but they were unable to add to the margin against the listless visitors.
Chelsea’s win was however marred by injury to Reece James, who lasted 52 minutes on his return from a five-week layoff that had made him miss England’s campaign at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
With the result, Chelsea climbed above Fulham into eighth place, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race for UEFA Champions League spots.
Bournemouth are 14th, three points above the drop zone.
